One of the City’s largest accounting firms has pulled up stakes and moved down to the river.

CKDM Chartered Accountants have relocated to the historic Cotton Mill District in Cornwall’s Le Village area. The offices are a fantastic mix of modern business activity set in a century old heritage building.

“This move allows our firm the freedom to grow,” said Michael Despatie, Managing Partner. “We could not be happier with the new offices. “

The new CKDM offices measure 6800 sq.ft., which is a significant increase in size from the firm’s former offices on Second Street. The new layout puts all staff on one level, increasing efficiency and making for a warmer customer experience.

“This building is truly an architectural gem – and the views of the St. Lawrence River are amazing,” said Mr. Brian Keen, Senior Partner. “The cost of this space is only a fraction of what it would be in larger cities like Ottawa and Toronto – which as accountants, we certainly appreciate.”

CKDM hired local designer Robyn Denis to help establish a style for the offices.  Colours and artwork reflect the heritage of the space, yet also complement the very modern activities taking place.

About the Cotton Mills
The CKDM offices are located in the Weave Shed building which is the centerpiece of the entire Cotton Mills district. The building dates back to the mid 1800’s and has a number of unique architectural features that have been carefully restored by its owner, Cornwall Warehousing.  The building features high ceilings, red brick exterior and interior walls, large arched windows and the original hardwood floors that still carry the mark of industrial machinery from over 150 years ago. Among the more interesting footnotes of the building is that it was one of the first buildings to be lit by Thomas Edison’s light bulbs. Today, the building is fully wired with fibre optics.
